About That Trailer

Ridgeline races five events a season, held all over Utah. Every one of them means hauling bikes, tools, canopies, and pit gear across the state. Lightning Kite and Pronghorn Bicycles Logan went in together as the team's two headline sponsors and bought them the trailer you are standing next to.

Teaming up was easy. The two companies share a building at 459 S. Main Street — and an owner: Dan, our president, is also the franchise owner of Pronghorn Bicycles Logan. He is out with the team himself most of the season, which is really how any of this started.

That is why our two logos are on the side of it. Wave if you pass it on the way to a race.

Who Ridgeline Is

The Ridgeline Mountain Bike Team is Cache Valley's NICA youth mountain biking team, racing the Utah High School Cycling League. Riders train and race in ability-based groups, from first-season beginners through varsity, and every group rides with a coach. The team also runs GRiT — Girls Riding Together — practices led by female coaches, because girls drop out of sports at roughly twice the rate boys do by age 14.

Beyond racing, the team teaches trail safety and environmental responsibility, and puts riders to work on trail building and maintenance around the valley. That combination — hard work, teamwork, and taking care of the place you ride — is the same thing we look for in the engineers we hire.

Registration runs through NICA's Pit Zone in the spring, with team fees paid directly to Ridgeline. Races need volunteers, and the team is a registered nonprofit, so donations are tax deductible.

And Who Lightning Kite Is

You have already seen a little of our work today: we built ridgelinemtb.org and donated it to the team. That is the short version of what we do, on a very small scale.

Lightning Kite is a custom software development company here in Logan, and we have been building software since 2006 — native iOS and Android apps, web applications, and the backends and connected-device software behind them.
