NJCTL — New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning

The Partnership

Lightning Kite has been NJCTL's development partner for over 11 years — one of our longest-running client relationships. The New Jersey Center for Teaching and Learning is a nonprofit educator platform and authorized New Jersey Institution of Higher Education that serves as the premier online resource for teachers and students in STEM education.

The Platform

We built and maintain the main njctl.org website — an educator portal providing free, editable STEM course materials, online professional development courses, certification programs, and computer science curriculum endorsed by the College Board. NJCTL is recognized as the leading US producer of physics teachers and a leading producer of chemistry teachers.

Ongoing Modernization

The platform was originally built on Django. We are progressively migrating it to Lightning Server, our modern Kotlin backend framework. The migration is approximately 50% complete, proceeding at a measured pace that fits NJCTL's budget and ensures zero disruption to the thousands of educators who depend on the platform daily.
